The Children’s Book Council of Australia’s annual Children’s Book Week® is almost upon us, and this years’ theme is ‘Read. Grow. Inspire’. This years’ celebrations will take place between August 19-25 and Street Library Australia is VERY proud to be supporting the CBCA’s Shadow Judging Program.
First launched in 2022, the Shadow Judging Program invites young readers from groups across Australia to join the conversation about the CBCA’s annual shortlist, and to choose what they consider to be the winning literary work. The winning title and author/illustrator will be announced at the end of Children’s Book Week® on Friday August 25.
Street Library Australia is donating an undecorated Street Library to one lucky school in each State or Territory, in recognition of their contributions to the shadow judging process, and as a show of appreciation for their overall commitment to literacy.
For more information on CBCA’s Shadow Judging program, including information on how to join future programs, visit the CBCA website. All interested adults, classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians are invited to step up as group facilitators in support of these young voices and this exciting project.
We can’t wait to welcome these schools to our Street Library community!
