Hi, it’s Nic from Street Library.
Congratulations on being awarded your Street Library via your local councils grant program.
We’ve chosen you because we know you’ll be a great custodian and ambassador of the project for your community – as well as being a diligent Street Librarian!
There are 4 basic, easy to fulfil conditions of this grant:
- You have to love your street library – install, paint and maintain it like you built it yourself. This is the easiest part of being a Street Librarian. Fill it up when it’s empty, empty when it’s a little too full, and keep an eye on it from time to time.
- Install it within 3 months of receipt. Please don’t ‘sit’ on your street library – get it out there in the community being used!
- Register it with us – at this page. Registration is free, it tells the world where your street library is and helps the community know where to find and donate books. You’ll need a little story, a great picture and a sense of fun. We’ll show the council the location of your library as proof of how good you are, and why we chose you. Easy, right?
- Be open to talking to the press. Sometimes we’ll get enquiries by local media who want to know more about the project, and you should be willing to do an interview with media and talk positively about the project.
If you’ve got any questions, email us and we’ll do our best to answer them.
Enjoy your new Street Library!
