Did you know that a decommissioned fridge makes a GREAT Street Library? Take a leaf out of Street Librarian Blair’s book and consider reusing an unwanted item if you’re wishing to set up a Street Library.

Fiction In The Fridge in Howlong, NSW,  recently popped up among our Street Library registrations and we’re thrilled by Blair’s ingenuity and creativity in sourcing the materials to transform an unwanted item into a cracking Street Library.

This special Fridge Street Library not only looks great, it has the capacity to hold heaps of books, all of them well-protected from the elements!

“As a lover of literature and sustainability I have been wanting to start my own street library for years,” says Blair. “I saw a fridge for free on Facebook marketplace and the rest is history!”

Have you created your own Street Library from scratch or by repurposing an existing item? Don’t forget to register it via our website so that it appears on the Street Library map.

We love the mantra ‘Better Late Than Never’ and are firm believers that more registered Street Libraries means more easily accessible books for all!
