People are busy walking, but can stop, peruse and choose a book to take home and chill. Hopefully something for everyone.
I’ve lived in this neighbourhood for 7 years and have got to notice the same people at the tram stop or on their daily walks. I love reading, but can’t justify buying books all the time, though I do love a new book. With libraries difficult over lockdown, I bought too many new ones, so needed to make space. I thought that this could be a way to connect with those people that I’ve only ever seen out on the street.
During lockdown 2.0 this was my project. My bubbly three-year-old helped with some of the painting. You’ll find a Hilbert Curve tree, zentangles, a tree possibly covered with spider webs (3 y.o) and inside there is a family of runners and spiders (directed by 3 y.o) cruising around with a green grasshopper helping a baby turtle (surely you can see that?!).
I’m hoping that people will leave a book when they take a book, or let others know where they can drop off extras.
