Balmain Public School Garden Nook Library

1 Eaton Street Balmain NSW 2041

Set among the tranquillity, and passive play space known as Miss Paulines Garden within the grounds of Historic Balmain Public School, we have a dedicated street library for our Kindy to Year 6 students where they can "come and have a look for a book to enjoy in a garden nook".
Whilst only our students can utilise the library, we appreciate any donations of books appropriate for Kindy to Year 6, please feel free to leave them with school reception.

Balmain Public School has very limited usable green space for its students – all play and reflective areas are hard surfaces, so we embarked on a journey last year 2022 (with the help of our amazing community, and local sponsors) to renovate a passive play space for the students, as well as be an educational working garden known as Miss Pauline’s Garden (in memory of Ms Pauline Jensen, a Balmain teacher who educated students on the importance of sustainability and respecting the environment).
In 2023, the Environmental Warriors asked Kobi Shetty MP (Greens Member for Balmain) for support to establish the library to recycle books for the students to enjoy. Their wish was granted, and after the students beautifully decorated the
library with their own original artwork it is now ready to be used.
