Bay Road Street Library

Corner of Bay Rd and Station St, Sandringham

This library is conveniently located close to the beach, local cafes and the Sandringham train station. It is beautifully painted by Anita Layzell with images familiar to locals, including the beach, cockatoos, blue wrens, lorikeets, possums, owls, the Sprit of Tasmania, stand up paddlers and more - and wrapped around it the words, "Love to read". Grab a book and head to the beach!

The library was installed in June 2021. It is the second street library in Sandy village, after the great success of our first one further up Station Street. The same team who worked on the first library also created the second one. The Sandy Street Art Project crowd funded the cost of materials and project managed. The library was made by the Bayside Men’s Shed, painted by local artist Anita Layzell and installed by Bayside City Council.
