We named our street library in honour of Dorothy Wall, the writer and illustrator of many Australian childrens’ books, and creator of Blinky Bill, Nutsy and many other characters. Dorothy lived right here in Albert Street in the 1930’s, with her young son, and wrote some of her books here, including “Blinky Bill grows up”.
We started this project to provide a local “book hub” where anyone feels free to share with their neighbours books they may have loved, but no longer need. Street libraries are a treasure hunt – so join in the fun!
