The logo is one of my chooks – hence the name. Readers can find the latest bestseller, a classic of literature and much else besides. Take a book anytime, leave a book if you like.
I first saw these neighbourhood libraries in North America ten years ago and decided to have my own version last year. The book box has a Tasmanian theme, being made of recycled huon and king billy pine.
I keep almost all adult fiction, plus the odd biography or narrative non-fiction.
I also usually have a few books for kids and young adults. I check and tidy the collection each day and only keep relevant books in good condition – the remainder are donated to the Tip Shop.
