During this isolation period due to Covid-19 our family have missed visiting the library. We realised that many others in our community would be in the same predicament. With a street library, we thought at least we could have a small place to exchange reading materials so we could all continue to read despite being in isolation.
Our family tries to incorporate the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” mantra in our daily living. Having a street library is one way that helps us to do this! We enjoy reading but find buying new books to be expensive and environmentally unfriendly. We thought why not reduce waste by giving our pre-loved books a new lease of life. In addition, we could also enjoy “new” books that others may drop off in the library.
