Butterfly Book House

Labrador Kindergarten was built over a single weekend in 1959 by local community leaders and volunteers. Building on 60 years of community engagement, we hope our street library creates a sense of belonging and community engagement amongst our neighbours, as well as the many people who pass by on their way to the Broadwater and Lagoon.

Our Butterfly Book House was generously built by the Labrador Men’s Shed and is stocked with books and magazines donated by our families, neighbours and friends.

Our families chose the name to reflect the beautiful Blue Triangle Butterflies who live in the Camphor Laurel tree beside the Book House.

We hope to inspire all readers, both young and old; to promote literacy and to foster a lifelong love of reading for all.
