I contacted Northern Beaches Council for permission to install a library structure in the reserve. The Council supported my idea and Council carpenters built and painted the structure with a green roof so that it fits happily between two shady trees. The reserve is small, surrounded by quiet streets and some enthusiastic readers in the local area. It has, as intended, taken on a life of it’s own as people borrow and replace books. Children’s books turn over particularly quickly.
The Calca Reserve Community Library is situated in a small park area which has a table and seating, shady trees and children's play equipment. We have a good supply of books for adults and children which adds to the enjoyment of a visit to this area.
