As a keen book worm myself, I have always loved sharing books with friends. As an avid traveller I’ve swapped books in hostels and cafes around the world. As a mum to 3 boys – reading aloud and enjoying clever and entertaining stories with them is one of the greatest delights in being a parent. So when I was looking at how to promote myself as a Real Estate agent who is also an active member of the community, the idea of procuring and launching Street Libraries came to mind. Especially during these Covid times, where care for our neighbourhood is more important than ever. I felt I could combine my genuine love of books with my desire to build authentic relationships with potential clients. The street libraries have increased my connection to and opened up conversations with local home owners, who have already started to invite me to provide advice and expertise on property matters. I feel so happy when I see the 3 libraries that I launched in Spring being utilised and loved. The hosts are all keen book readers and help me to keep them stocked with interesting and engaging titles.
At the top of Stapleton ridge line in Avalon Beach, at the cross roads of Capri Close, Riviera Ave and Cannes Drive, you will find a little street library full of a variety of titles. This street library allows local residents swap and share books without the need to hop in their car down to the village of Avalon.
