I have a couple of wonderful girls who absolutely love books and am myself an avid reader and writer. I love the concept of street libraries and wanted to build a specific kids library to encourage reading with the next generation and help parents grab a couple of new books while on a walk to read their kids without needing to haul over to the library.
This street library was built just before Melbourne went into COVID-19 lockdown forcing libraries to close.
We keep it well maintained, repairing books that need it, removing any. junk, and popping in new batteries for those kids books that need them (I have every battery known to humankind).
Locals have been amazing in their generosity dropping off perfectly new books and whole series. You don’t need to donate anything though, take what you like!
