To share our love for reading, we decided to build a street library for our kids. While there’s one up the street, we often don’t have time to walk our dog there for them to borrow a book. With our home library overflowing, creating our own library became the perfect solution!
We poured our hearts into the design, incorporating ideas from our kids. My son envisioned a garden filled with flowers, bees, and a caterpillar from “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” along with its food so it wouldn’t go hungry. He also wanted clouds, a sun, lots of rainbows, and, of course, rain—”because there’s no rainbow without both sun and rain” as he said, and our daughter only dreamed of having a dinosaur in the mix.
With their imaginative ideas, Dad’s building skills, and Mom’s artistic touch, we brought our vision to life, creating a library that reflects our family’s joyful and colourful spirit. We are passionate about books, reading, and learning, and this project allowed us to share our love for sharing, reusing, and being sustainable. It truly was a wonderful way to accomplish all that!
