Two minutes walk to gorgeous Culburra Beach, grab a book to read while you relax on the sand
I decided to set up a street library after seeing one near my last address in Tasmania. After I was knocked back for a community grant to help set it up by the local pokie-owning bowls club, two good friends Suzie and Karyn contributed funds from their own pockets to the cause and we bought the library together. I hope it will serve as a community hub, a topic of conversation, and (of course) sponsor reading, particularly among kids. Books have been a great source of pleasure for me my whole life and I passed on my love of reading to my son. I hope my generous friends and I can help others discover that pleasure. Culburra Beach is a glorious place, it’s the setting for the iconic Max Dupain black and white photograph “Sunbaker”. We decorated the library with driftwood collected from the beach. The library is in Mowbray Rd, 200m from the sand, stop by and pick up something to read on your way or drop off a book you no longer need!
