Fabulous Street Library for young and old. It's OVERFLOWING with books -so get in there and get your kids (little and big) reading!

The Street Library was opened at The Salvation Army Derwent Valley by Acting Mayor Jessica Cosgrove – Derwent Valley Council and Kirsten Kearney from Kwirky Kids. Tim Size from The Salvation Army did a brilliant job MC”ing – and the little people jumped on the books without being asked!
This Derwent Valley Street Libraries project is a true collaboration by the Derwent Valley community.
It’s a follow-on from the Paint the Valley Re(a)d literacy project – pulled along by Katie Beamish from ptunarra Child & Family Learning Centre and her team/working group and grown to a community wide Little Street Libraries project. Brigid from COTA helped make this BIG.. and here we are!
The Derwent Valley Men’s Shed built the library, supported by a working group made up of COTA (Council On The Ageing) Tasmania Corumbene Care Derwent Valley Family and Youth Action Network Lions Club of New Norfolk mounted the library Ptunarra Child & Family Learning Centre Derwent Valley Community House
So many people have played a part. Donating books – supporting the project – bringing their kids to put handprints.. Communities for Children – South East Tasmania was really happy to provide the funding to have the libraries built and provide the books.
