Garranga Bumarri’s Treasure Box

Henson St entrance to MWPS Beauchamp St, Marrickville, NSW 2204

Garranga Bumarri is a pelican who hatched out of Paint Marrickville REaD. He LOVES reading! His treasure box will have books for children birth-school age.

We received an opportunity to participate in Street Libraries thanks to Inner West Council. It is installed on the outside gate of Henson Street entrance to Marrickville West Public School (MWPS). The project is perfect because of our school partnership with Paint Marrickville REaD (PMR).

PMR is a movement to get books available to all families so reading can become a fun activity from birth! Garranga Bumarri is the mascot and travels around Marrickville looking for reading opportunities.

PMR was started through the facilitators at Connect Marrickville School as Community Centre which is also on the grounds of MWPS.

Come grab a book and a read with a child today. Reading not only builds vocabulary and literacy skills, but also provides a great opportunity to bond with your child and learn about other points of view.
