I saw a street library whilst out walking on the other side of Buderim from where we live . Then a librarian friend told us they we’re building one at their place and as I had worked in a library I couldn’t help myself – I wanted to do my part and share books too. So my husband built the library out of some recycled old drawers with a picture frame front.. painted it up and it became ‘our’ project, not just mine.
These days he reads more than I do! We both love seeing people stop by to check out the supply. We love the notes some people leave for us! We love sharing books with others in our community and it’s constantly turning over as a lot of people walk by our place. They borrow or take, read and maybe replace.. so it’s been really easy to maintain as its right next to our letterbox, and gets checked regularly. Thanks .
The first in the street, there’s nothing so sweet
As the kids and the folk and that funny old bloke,
Who put books out to share, just ‘cause they care!
