Grandma’s Book Club

265 Katoomba Street, Katoomba NSW 2780, Australia

Highlights of a collection that once belonged to a lady with impeccable reading tastes. Classics, mysteries, spy novels. Grab a book and go find a cafe.

Alice McMahon was born in Sydney, widowed young, raised three children by herself and loved to read every day of her life. When she died in 2018 at the age of 93 she left a mountain of books behind. She especially enjoyed detective stories – Agatha Christie, Ruth Rendell, PD James, Dorothy Sayers. She would love if you took something to read and left something she might like.

Her son built this library and her grandson maintains it. If you’re a bloke who also loves to read, why not check out Tough Guy Book Club and meet some other men who aren’t afraid to love their Grandmas.
