The build of our Street Library was inspired by “Uncle Dan el Milo”, a Street Library veteran and supporter for many years. The kids loved the idea of sharing books and are looking forward to seeing what comes and goes and are very curious to see what happens.
The library itself is made completely from things we already had laying around; some leftover ply (a little thin), a piece of perspex (which was the shelf in an old fridge) and is painted in some leftover exterior house paint.
We all look forward to the exciting coming and going of books and the chance to share with our wonderful neighbourhood.
Though we are hidden away in a little culdesac our library that was made and painted by Tom and Callie (5 YO) has a good assortment of all sorts. We're hoping to add some kids books in the coming weeks as we thin our selection here at home.
