Karuna’s Street Wisdom

27 Cartwright Street, Windsor, Queensland, Australia

Reflecting our values, Karuna's Street Wisdom gives people the opportunity to share in both each other's joyful reading as well as access some books from the long Buddhist tradition. It really is a collaboration of our local community and ancient wisdom.

Karuna (Karuna.org.au) was established to help people die peacefully in, wherever possible, the setting of their choosing. Besides providing in home nursing care, social worker support and spiritual care to people with life limiting illness and their families, we also provide education services around death, dying grief and loss. As part of expanding how we facilitate those services, one of our people suggested that we offer a place to share some of the books we have with the broader community as well as support those people to engage with each other through the love of reading and books.
So the idea of the street library was born.
Our wish is promote greater interaction within the community, as well as with death literacy and broader Buddhist wisdom helping people to better understand themselves in order to live a happier life.
