Did you know that only 56% of children are read aloud to 5-7 days a week? Or that the AEDC most recent data showed that children in this area are developmentally vulnerable in the area of language and cognitive skills? Because of these alarming results we thought we would support the community by providing a free street library.
The design for our library was based upon our local community. As we have Nudgee tip not too far away we thought it would be most appropriate to recycle an unloved piece. In the local lifeline we found a little breadbox that was the perfect size. With the help of the Rogers family we were able to transform the old breadbox into a functional street library. Travis put in many hours, building a roof, adding the hardware and making it all waterproof.
Here at Kids Capers we value books and wish to share this love of learning with the greater community. Please stop by and take or leave a book today.
Come visit our street library and take a little look, feel free to view our collection and take or leave a book. You can find our little library nestled under a large tree. The library sits proudly upon a log guarded by our wooden monkey.
Located at:83 Oates Parade, Northgate, QLD, 4013
