Laurel St Library

A small collection of ‘good reads’. A chance to try a new author perhaps. Or to share your favourites.

We had discovered the joys of a nearby street library while visiting Sydney at the end of 2019. The Rotary Club I belong to agreed that to build and sponsor some libraries would be an ideal way to remain connected with our local community during the difficult year that was 2020. This is the first of four libraries and we are delighted to be its host. The building materials were donated by local hardware stores (Doyles and Bunnings); the building was completed by the Ferny Grove Men’s Shed (in between other projects) and this library was painted by us (using paint donated by club members) and decorated by a family member using as inspiration the flower names of the streets around us.

The library is opposite a primary school and we hope that the parents who routinely pass by will make regular use of it. I have a good supply of a variety of authors to change the books if any sit there for too long.

Visit our Rotary club on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/mitcheltonRotaryClub1967/ or our website – https://mitcheltonrotaryclub.org.au/ to read more. Or email us direct on [email protected]
