With much excitement I would like to announce that the LOFTUS COMMUNITY STREET LIBRARY has been installed!
Our beautiful Community Library is a box made by a family in the community of recycled wood at The Bower Reuse and Recycle Centre. It was also kindly decorated by other talented local women and planted in the front yard of Health Associates on Loftus Avenue, just opposite the train station.
What is a Community Street Library you may ask?
A Community Street Library is a central home for books, planted in a public accessible place, and are an invitation to share the joys of reading with the community. The books are free to take with the idea that you “take a book, give a book, share your books!”
If anyone has a book or two that they think others would enjoy, they can just pop it into the Community Street Library whenever you happen to be walking past as well if something is there that takes your interest please take and enjoy!
The Community Street LIbrary has been registered with www.streetlibrary.org.au for anyone whom wants to learn more about Street Libraries or find out where more libraries are located in the Sutherland Shire.
An official launch will be organised and publicity sought from The Leader in the next few weeks. Will let you know the details asap. Please spread the word with your neighbours and friends in the area, particularly those not on the internet/social media. Happy reading everyone!
