Magnolia Street Library

16 Carysfort Street, Blackheath, NSW, Australia

Magnolias are a symbol of purity and love, which I interpret as 'pure love', indicative of 'love for the sake of loving.' This street library encompasses just that; loving books for the sake of it, for the sake of joy. The joy of finding and reading a book is like no other, and I hope this library allows people to find joy in the simple things like a good book.

This library has been handcrafted by my boyfriend and his mother, and painted by me. We all love books and wanted to create a home to share some of our books with the community. I was inspired by various street libraries in the area that I constantly visit and wanted to build a spacious library to add a pop of colour to the street and the Cliff family home. The floral design on the sides showcases the beautiful magnolia flower, one of my mother’s favourites. We are located close to town; stop by on your walk!
