Matilda by Story Factory

176 Redfern Street, Redfern, NSW 2016, Australia

Stories change lives. Take, give, share a book and be part of Story Factory's reading and writing community.

Matilda is Story Factory’s community library located at our Redfern centre and bookshop. Her name and colours are inspired by Roald Dahl’s book and the Australian Women’s Football team. Matilda was built by hand by our lovely volunteers Ruben and Silvia, and our team based at our Story Factory Parramatta centre. Matilda is a symbol of our community, and our shared love of books, reading and writing.

At Story Factory, we believe that stories change lives. Reading is access but writing is agency. We work with young people to write their own stories, imagine their own worlds and see themselves as authors who have a voice worth sharing with the world. The benefits can last a life time.

Story Factory publishes a thrilling selection of student writing from our creative writing programs each year. Our students range in age from 7- 17 and come from diverse backgrounds across Western Sydney and beyond.
