The idea of having a little street library at our service was brought forward by the Roberts family wanting to evolve their daughters love for reading and wanting her to be involved in the wider community. We quickly jumped at the idea as it fits our centre philosophy, we believe that it is important that each child feels apart of the community, to play, to learn and share their knowledge with others around them.
The Roberts family also generously offered their time and materials to create an upcycled ‘Little Street Library’ using a shelf off hard rubbish.
We now have a very funky street library for all to share especially our families at Mt Evelyn Early Learning Centre; it also has a few special features, a succulent garden on top and bug hotel to the side.
At Mt Evelyn Early Learning Centre we value books and literacy, and want to encourage our families and the wider community to come together and share a book.
Take a break, sit down with a loved one, share a story and some laughter, and then be transported to another time and place through the story you choose to read.
All that we ask is that you please take care of our ‘Little Street Library’ and love it as much as we do.
The library will sit proudly in our carpark garden bed near our community garden for all our families and wider community to use.
Please stop by and take or leave a book today!
