We are a rural area in Orange NSW. Our facebook page received a question ” I have lots of books, how about a book library, do we have one? At the time I was in the process of painting an old TV cupboard end for just that purpose. It was to be placed at the front of our driveway.
After a lot of facebook discussion it was decided to place it at our community meeting place called the Mud Hut, a small community park with a covered BBQ area.
Contact with our local council was made and approval given. Painting of the library finished and the library was bolted to the wall. Books arrived happy and ready to be read!!!
My inspiration was from the bookshelf and boxes overflowing with books needing to be read again. Covid had made life uncomfortable for all and everyone in our community needed something special. The Mud Hut library has been enjoyed by all ages since coming to life.
The library is checked weekly as I drive past, booklovers on our community facebook page also let us know if there are any issues or if the library is overflowing.
It works well!!
