Our street library came about as a collaboration between neighbours in the street during recent lock downs. One neighbour built the library using his own design, three children (along with their mother for assistance) painted native flower designs and along the way learned about “Billy Buttons Bottlebrush”, “Flame trees”, “Lilly Pilly” and Zig Zag Wattle, some of which are located in neighbouring gardens. Another neighbour then put it all together and ensured it is weather and waterproof. We had a grand opening recently and a project like this reinforces the need for neighbours to stay connected during these interesting times.
Our street library has been created by 3 children in the street who have showcased native flowers on the library.
