Ever since I discovered my first street library, on one of our many trips, I’ve been inspired to create one in my own garden. This library is my way of fostering a sense of connection in our wonderfully diverse community—a community I truly cherish. During the challenges of COVID, I was deeply moved by the kindness and generosity of those around me, and I’ve long wanted to give something back.
The library reflects my passion for reading, and I especially hope to inspire children, who are such a vital part of our neighborhood. A friend has generously offered to supply ex-library books and audiobooks to help get started, and I’m excited about the possibility of seeing books from different cultures appear over time—stories that I and others can enjoy and learn from.
More than anything, I hope this little library becomes a meeting point for neighbours—a place where people come together, share ideas, and build connections that make our community even stronger.
