Old Mill Street Library

Sth Perth Access Rd Before Mill Point Rd, South Perth WA 6151, Australia

A little library at one of Western Australia's most iconic buildings, the Old Mill at South Perth (constructed 1835).

The Old Mill in South Perth is home to a new little Street Library. City of South Perth Libraries have installed the free community library to complement the existing three BookStops at bus shelters located around the City.

The free community libraries are designed to get books into the wider community by encouraging people to ‘take a book, leave a book’.

One of the City’s librarians donated their time and artistic talent to paint the exterior of the Street Library. The artwork was inspired by the cute little house design and was painted so that it looks like a house from a distance.

The City plans to install a few more street libraries if the initiative proves popular with local residents.
