Paint Gin Gin REaD is an early literacy community program that encourages the whole community to read, talk, sing, rhyme, draw and move with children from birth, so that they will be ready to read, write and actively engage at school and in community life.
In 2022, Street Libraries made a generous donation of a Street Library to Paint Gin Gin REaD and it was launched at the local Under 8’s Day, including National Simultaneous Storytime, with over 300 people attending. The Paint Gin Gin REaD Street Library is located outside Gin Gin State School in Milden Street (near the corner of May Street) where children and families will have the opportunity to choose a book and share a book as they walk past each day. This is such a great way of encouraging the love of reading in our children!
Developing a love of reading from an early age is vital to give kids a head-start on their literacy development.
