In 2018, Barunga West Council received funding from the Public Library Services to purchase Street Library houses which were installed in the townships of Kulpara, Tickera, Bute, Mundoora, Alford, Fisherman Bay and Port Broughton.
Our “libraries” house books which community members can swap books in and out of at different locations around the Council area. The houses are being painted by school kids and community groups and encourage tourists and members of the community to visit multiple towns in our region to use our play grounds and outdoors spaces while also swapping books.
This library is located outside of the Port Broughton Kindergarten.
