Retread Street Library

9 Crystal Street Waterloo 2017

The best library on the premises of 9 Crystal Street, Waterloo servicing the residents of over 350 apartments. A chance to find something new and inviting.

Our library has had a chequered history. First library was put up in 2017, and the cleaners got rid of it as they were worried that books might be stolen. Library 2 had to be constructed and decorated and then put up in the foyer during COVID – it was not allowed to stay there – even though it had body corporate permission. Back into my apartment to wait till we started getting our garbage room sorted and really thought about recycling, reusing, repurposing things. Attempt 3 – it was put up last Friday only to have the bookshelves removed. We got them back after some anxious hours and fixed the library back onto the shelves and opened it on Saturday 22nd February – a fitting day known as Thinking Day in Girl Guides and Scouts.
