Our Kindy was approached by local resident Jenny, who nominated us to receive a street library. We were thrilled to be successful and once it arrived we collaborated with our children at our Centre for their ideas as to how the box might be decorated. One of our parents, Skye, who is a talented artist, offered to paint our Kindergarten’s story onto the box. With help from her mother Rita, another gifted artist, we now have a library box that reflects our Kindy, our families, our children and our community as well as featuring the theme of Book Week in 2024 ‘Reading is Magic’. The art work represents the magic, joy and love of reading through images of mermaids, dragons and fairies as well as images of county and symbols for meeting places. Our aim for our library is for it to be accessible to all and we hope it will be an invitation to share the joys of reading with our community.
Our beautiful little street library provides our community an opportunity to share in the joy of reading.
