Rutherford Public School Street Library

As part of Education Week 2023, the teachers of Rutherford Public School brainstormed ways of sharing their love of reading with the Rutherford Public School community and how to ensure that every child has access to books in their home. From this, the idea of creating a Street Library for our community was born.
The Maitland Community Men’s Shed were tasked with building a street library to hold as many books as possible for our large community. The Men’s Shed built and installed our beautiful and much loved Street Library which has become a much loved feature of our school.
The Rutherford Public School Street Library is located just inside the main entry gate into the school grounds and is accessible to the whole community at the start and end of the school day.
