Our library was inspired by a beach library I discovered in Maroubra, NSW during my recent travels. I met a new friend there while we chatted about how lovely the idea of having a beach library for locals to chat and share their passion for books.
It amazed me that people were grabbing books and reading them along the coast, and so my son and I donated our very special beach library to our local community.
We live closeby and keep a close eye on the library, and trust that the community will also treat it with respect – we hope to see many more erected along our beautiful coastline for everyone in our community to enjoy.
Beach libraries bring people together through a shared interest in reading, but also create a hub for people to connect!
