I’d always had in the back of my mind the idea to set up a street library but hadn’t done so because of the cost of buying one or sourcing something else that could be used. About 9 mths ago the local council announced a street library had been placed at a Community Hall in another part of the council area. I spoke with our community rep to see if something similar could be done in my area. We finally decided to erect it out the front of our house and the local Men’s Shed lovingly built the library (for free) out mainly recycled materials. They are now building a stock of extra libraries for others in the area that may want them. I’ve had a lot of books donated by friends so the library will always be well stocked.
