As Early Childhood Educators, we recognise that literacy begins at birth and we wondered how we could support families to read with their children. One of our leadership team had seen a street library nearby and so we thought this would be a great way to promote Literacy in our community. We ordered, received and painted our Library before asking our families for donations of books to place in the library. Once it was all set up, we used our social media platforms to promote our Library within our community and have had some beautiful feedback from families and the community.
We have a collection of beautiful books to inspire families to read with their children at home! Spending time with your children reading ignites parts of your child's brain that they will later use for reading and writing.
