I have upcycled an abandoned TV unit found on the nature strip into a fun and friendly street library called Suzi.
It was a community project, with help from The Men’s Shed who kindly designed Suzi’s 3 legs, created a waterproof roof and added the fancy gold latch.
I had help from 2x fabulous 9 year olds who designed and painted the back 2 sides with flowers, ladybugs and abstract patterns.
Our friend Tony kindly installed Suzi onto the rocks outside our house so she won’t be going anywhere in a hurry!
Creating Suzi has been a rewarding process that took 11 months to complete, but has been well worth the wait.
We even held a street party in Suzi’s honour- a great way to build local community connections and encourage recycling of old books.
