Repurposing an old bar fridge and combining it with a traditional unit kindly donated by the street library organisation has allowed us to have a street library with different sections according to the age of the reader. We had a lot of fun decorating the units, despite readers not being able to identify the local wedge tail eagle that was specifically painted into our rural scene on one side of the unit. Being passionate about reading and sharing books is obviously popular as we already have two big boxes on books held in our shed that can be cycled through our library always ensuring there is something new on offer.
Our library has children's, young adult and regular sections (can't say adult because it sounds R rated) that are regularly changed. Our library is situated in the carpark of the Tetoora Road Hall and is open for locals or passers by to stop, have a look, swap a book. Or if you don't have a book to swap but something really appeals pay the book forward at another street library.
