Our street library has been in place for more than five years. It holds a special place for the families of our ECEC Service as their children borrow books and return them, learning responisibility and sharing with others the stories which they have come to love from reading during our story times.
The neighbours have borrowed books and also shared cook books, lifestyle books and novels which from time to time, we see gone then returned.
Our preschool children take care of the library, making trips with the educators to the front of our property to clean the colourful library and make sure birds and spiders haven’t made their homes in it 🙂
Our street library is located on a quiet street which ends in a cul-de-sac, so we don't get much traffic on the footpath running past our Early Childhood Service, but we often find books in our street library that the neighbours have shared. Our Library has children's books and books that will interest adults.
It's a great place for our neighbourhood to find books to read.
