We created The Local Yum in September 2020, using old shelves we saved from a neighbour’s rubbish pile.
The stall is based on organic and permaculture principles, with homemade and homegrown food items offered both for free and for sale.
The street library part has evolved organically. At first we simply popped any books we had to spare on our bottom shelf. Then the community started leaving their books too. Now the library is a permanent feature of our stall. Pop past and grab a book!
