A variety of books – all in good condition – fiction, non-fiction and the occasional kids' book.
For a long time I wanted to have a little street library to share my love of books but when we bought a house in a small cul-de-sac, I didn’t think it would be possible. However, our back fence looked onto a grassy laneway cum firebreak between two suburbs so we found an old drinks fridge, put a hole in the fence and called our library The Snicket – a nod to my north of England roots. A snicket is a passage between houses. We launched on April 1 in the middle of the Covid-19 crisis when we need a sense of community and sharing resources more than ever.
