Our Street Library is built and maintained with love by the partnership of Yeppoon State High School’s, Student Action Group and the Livingstone Shire Council.
What started out as a Book Week fundraiser at YSHS in 2023, to buy new books for the Town Library, quickly turned into a project to build, stock and maintain a Street Library of our own. Our library is built by students and teacher from a Year 12 Engineering class and decorated by an Art teacher. The cyclone proof legs have been built and fitted by a young apprentice from the LSC. An awesome partnership in action.
The books supplied come from an ongoing “book drive” at Yeppoon State High, thanks to families in our community.
The Student Action Group aims to build community relationships and engage students in a myriad of ways with our rather special and awesome local community. We hope our Street Library offers enjoyment to many; with it being situated next to a park for people to grab a book for a calm, relaxed read while sitting in the shade of a tree, on the grass perhaps, and soak up our glorious Yeppoon weather and salt air.
Top shelf: a differentiated mix of adult reading, all genres included.
Bottom shelf: dedicated to our youth and children.
Something for everyone; the love of a quiet read.
