UUFIT stands for Uniting U(You ) Fitness(Fun) Inspiraiton(Insight) Training((Teaching) and is the community support arm of the Sawtell Uniting Church in Elizabeth street Sawtell. Our library came about because one morning a participant in one of the exercise groups which operate are held in our premises 3 mornings a week, left a couple of books for others to read. They were quickly snapped up by other participants in the group. Next session a few more books arrived and left just as quickly. Our daughter has a street library in Dee Why Sydney so we decided to give it a try. Someone offered a bookcase, another donated bookends and with a bit of handyman skill we were off and away. Our library is on a sheltered external wall so it is available 24hours a day, many people use the grassed walkway alongside our building as they go to shop so it has high visiblility within the community. I believe the street library like the exercise programs enhance the fitness, fun, inspiration, insight and teaching and sharing which goes on within our local community.
Reading is for everyone... you can pick up an interesting book for yourself, your children or even a neighbour as you stroll by our library.
