It was suggested by a community member who is a member of the Wandi Progress Association to build a community street library. There is a woodworking group who meet at our community centre. The WPA applied for and was granted funding from the City of Kwinana and engaged one of the artisans from the woodworkers to construct the library.
The vibe we were looking for was rustic early 20th century house which was a feature of the local area when European first moved into the Kwinana area.
Our community is at the edge of the local government area. The City of Kwinana library is located in the centre of the local government area. It is hoped the community library will not only recycle books but also encourage reading and discovery to all age groups.
Don't want to cross the freeway to the City library? Drop in and see what's on offer locally.
