While walking with my daughter one Sunday we passed a Street Library on Alison Road Randwick. We stopped and I took a book – Michael Ondaatje’s “Warlight”. We walked home and I mentioned to my husband how much I loved the concept and how I wished for one of my own, on our front fence as the street we live on is near three schools and we get lots of walking traffic past.
A few weeks later, for Mother’s Day I received my very own Street Library and the first book to be placed in was “Warlight”.
Named after the book that inspired my interest in Street Libraries I am excited to give quality reading back to our neighbours and local residents. "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body"
