Wilmot Book Exchange

Wilmot Memorial Hall, Main Street, Wilmot TAS, Australia

The local community members in the small mountain village of Wilmot in north-western Tasmania share a love of reading and got together to share the many books on their shelves. All tastes in reading are available.

A community member proposed establishing a street library in Wilmot at a community gathering morning tea for cancer research in 2018. When a couple of dead fridges appeared at the local tip, some other community members said: “Ah! That just the thing for our street library.”
A local artist, Kelly, said, “Let me paint the design on them!” and she had a ball expressing her ideas in paint. So we are so proud to offer “Wilmot Book Exchange” to any resident or visitor who would like a good read. Put a book in. Take a book out. Free! It is maintained by members of the Wilmot Tourist and Progress Association.
