Huge congratulations to all the students and staff at Ross Park Primary School in East Side, NT. Thanks to their enthusiasm and commitment to reading and community we are thrilled to be celebrating the first registered Street Library within the Alice Springs township… Take a book, Give a book, Share a book!

Acting on a tip-off from the wonderful staff and volunteers behind CBCA Book Week we connected with the school to find out how we could help them successfully install a Street Library. Along with the Street Library itself, we donated a mobile stand to allow for increased flexibility around the location of the Street Library. While Ross Park’s Street Library is primarily situated close to the school’s front office (ensuring easy access for both the school community and Alice Springs residents), the mobile stand allows the students to safeguard the library in the evenings and relocate it within the school grounds as needed.

Ross Park Bookworms is a testament to teamwork, creativity and enthusiasm and we love having it on our map.

The school shared their process with us:

Unpacking and Construction
With the help of their Maintenance Officer and General Superhero Mr. Michael, SRC members paired the Street Library with the mobile stand.

Design Competition
SRC students showcased their artistic talents by creating design proposals. Will’s design emerged victorious in a school-wide vote!

Artistic Expertise
The budding artists received guidance from Miss Hill, the school’s resident artist, ensuring a professional finish.

Painting Process
Students came together to bring the chosen design to life, transforming the Street Library into a vibrant beacon of literacy.

Grand Unveiling
The completed Street Library made its debut at the school’s assembly, building excitement throughout the community.

We hope that the school and its community helps to foster a love of reading and the spirit of sharing for the residents of Alice Springs!
